Brahms: The Three Violin SonatasĀ – Charles Richard-Hamelin, Andrew Wan (Analekta, 2026): This one just came out at the beginning of June, on Canadian label Analekta. This is a follow-up to the duo’s successful 2022 album of the complete Beethoven sonatas, also on Analekta, winner of the JUNO Award that year for Classical Album of the Year: Small Ensemble. Their Brahms may be setting up to follow the same trajectory!
Mozart: Piano ConcertosNos. 9 & 22 – Jan Lisiecki (piano), Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Manfred Honeck (cond.) (Deutsche Grammophon 2026) Calgarian Jan Liesiecki was a teenager when he recorded his first album of Mozart piano concertos. 15 years on, with a whole catalog of recordings under his belt, he returns to Mozart with this latest DG release, just out in April.
Asked how his approach to Mozart has changed in the intervening years, Lisiecki says,
“I simply let the music speak for itself, without overanalyzing, without overthinking.” The results speak for themselves, as you will hear.
