AudioDaily is an independent classical music review publication devoted to recordings, performance, sound quality and the art of listening.
Founded in 2025 by pianist, music critic and recording producer Kevin Elliott, AudioDaily helps listeners discover outstanding new recordings and rediscover exceptional performances from the recorded catalogue.
The emphasis is on music worth hearing rather than simply music that is new. Coverage ranges from major classical releases and historically important recordings to less familiar repertoire, unusual performances and new approaches to recorded sound.
What AudioDaily covers
We publish reviews, recommendations, listening guides, playlists and features about classical and concert music.
Particular areas of interest include interpretation and performance, recording history, record labels and artists, audio production and engineering, and the changing ways in which recorded music reaches listeners.
Sound quality is an important part of that coverage. AudioDaily regularly examines high-resolution and immersive recording formats, including surround sound, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio, alongside conventional stereo recordings. The aim is not simply to identify impressive sound, but to consider how recording and production choices affect the musical experience.
AudioDaily also follows the rapidly changing world of music streaming and digital distribution, with practical attention to how listeners can find and hear recordings through today’s streaming services.
An experienced listener’s perspective
AudioDaily is edited by Kevin Elliott, whose professional background spans music broadcasting, recording production, audio engineering and music technology.
During the 1980s, Elliott worked at CBC Radio as a national executive producer of orchestral and classical music programming, including Mostly Music. His work included commissioning, recording and producing live performances by Canada’s major orchestras and other classical artists for national broadcast. Mostly Music brought this repertoire to listeners across Canada as part of CBC Radio’s daily music programming.
In the 1990s, Elliott continued that work at the Banff Centre for the Arts, where he served as Program Director of its audio program. There he worked in an environment bringing together musicians, composers, producers and engineers, with particular emphasis on recording practice, music production and emerging digital audio technologies.
Those two strands of experience — making music for national broadcast and working directly with musicians and recording technology — continue to inform AudioDaily’s approach. A review may consider interpretation, repertoire and historical context, but also microphone perspective, production choices, mastering, spatial presentation or the differences between competing releases when those factors materially affect what a listener hears.
Now retired from full-time professional work, Elliott founded AudioDaily as a way of continuing a lifetime of active listening, musical research and discovery — and of sharing recordings that seem especially worth other listeners’ time.

Independent criticism and recommendations
AudioDaily is independently edited. Record labels, artists, publicists, retailers, streaming services and affiliate partners do not determine what is reviewed or what conclusions are reached.
Reviews are based on listening, research, professional experience and individual critical judgement. Complimentary review materials or commercial relationships do not guarantee coverage or favourable treatment, and sponsored material is kept separate from independent editorial content.
AudioDaily also aims to distinguish clearly between documented fact, critical opinion, reasonable inference and promotional claims, and to correct significant factual errors when they are identified.
